Looking for an Umapped alternative
As of September 2026.
Umapped was used by advisors, DMCs and TMCs before it was discontinued: the shutdown was announced 5 June 2025 and completed 8 October 2025, with its mobile apps wiped. If you're reading this, you've likely already lived through that migration or are helping a colleague through one. This page isn't a feature-by-feature comparison, since Umapped no longer exists to compare against. It's a guide to evaluating vendor risk before you commit to whatever replaces it, plus the mechanics of moving your data into WaypointsX.
How they compare
| Feature | WaypointsX | Umapped |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Advisor $59/mo, or $49/mo billed annually (one seat). Studio $119/mo (two seats, then $39/seat). Agency $299/mo (five seats, then $39/seat). 14-day free trial, no credit card to start. | n/a, discontinued: announced 5 June 2025, shut down 8 October 2025. |
| Itinerary builder | The itinerary is an output of the trip record, not a blank page: bookings, deadlines and documents already on the trip flow into it, and the assistant only proposes tracked changes. It never applies them silently. | n/a: no longer available. |
| Confirmation import | Yes Forward a supplier confirmation; fields are extracted with confidence scores and source quotes, the advisor reviews and accepts, then the booking, itinerary items, deadlines and expected commission are created. | No n/a: service discontinued. |
| E-signature | Yes Waypoints Sign is native: templates auto-fill from the trip, signers get an emailed one-time code, consent is versioned, signatures are typed or drawn, and sequential signers with countersigning are supported. Unlimited signing on every plan. | No n/a: service discontinued. |
| Card authorisation handling | Yes Card authorisation is captured as a signed document. With a card vault connected, reveals are logged for the advisor to see; without one, card capture goes through Stripe tokens that can't be revealed to anyone, including WaypointsX. | No n/a: service discontinued. |
| Commission tracking | Yes Every booking carries an expected commission and expected date. Statements reconcile from CSV deterministically, or from PDF with AI, and overdue commissions can generate a chase draft. | No n/a: service discontinued. |
| Client portal | Yes Clients approve proposals, comment, sign documents, pay, upload passports, see a live itinerary and message the advisor, in one portal. | No n/a: service discontinued, mobile apps wiped. |
| AI | Yes An itinerary assistant proposes tracked changes tagged by provenance (confirmed, library, suggested, advisor), with a publish gate on anything unverified. AI also assists statement reconciliation from PDF. | No n/a: service discontinued. |
| Data export | Yes An export guarantee: every trip, client, document and commission record exports on demand, on every plan. | No n/a: mobile apps were wiped; anything not exported before shutdown is gone. |
The shutdown, as documented
Umapped's shutdown is now cited across the travel-advisor software market as the reason vendor stability has become a selling point in its own right. Here's the timeline as documented, and a short framework for evaluating any vendor, WaypointsX included, before you commit.
- 5 June 2025: Umapped announces it is shutting down.
- 8 October 2025: Umapped shuts down completely; its mobile apps are wiped.
Evaluating vendor risk
Data export
Before you commit, get it in writing, not just in a sales call, that you can export every trip, client, document and commission record on demand, in a usable format, without a support ticket. WaypointsX makes this a guarantee: one-click export, on every plan, always.
Ownership
Ask who owns the company behind the tool, whether outside investment creates pressure to sell or shut down a product line, and how long it has operated. WaypointsX is new and should be weighed with that same scrutiny: this page says so plainly rather than implying a track record it doesn't have.
Pricing stability
Ask whether the vendor has changed its published pricing recently, or reserves the right to change it for existing customers without notice. WaypointsX's current pricing is $59/mo Advisor, $119/mo Studio (two seats), $299/mo Agency (five seats), each with a 14-day free trial: check this page's date against the live pricing page before you rely on it.
Switching from Umapped
If you're moving off Umapped: export whatever you can from any backup you kept before the shutdown. Umapped's mobile apps were wiped, so there's nothing left to pull from the app itself. WaypointsX takes CSV imports for client and trip data, and guarantees export back out at any time, on any plan, so this decision isn't the same bet twice.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Umapped still available in any form?
- No. It shut down completely on 8 October 2025, and its mobile apps were wiped.
- Can I still get my data out of Umapped?
- Not through WaypointsX: we never had access to Umapped's systems. If you kept an export or backup from before the shutdown, that's what you have; if not, that data is very likely gone, which is itself the reason to weigh vendor risk on whatever comes next.
- How do I avoid this happening again?
- Check three things before you commit to any vendor: whether data export is guaranteed in writing, who owns the company and how stable that ownership is, and whether pricing has changed recently or could without notice. See the vendor-risk section above.
- Does WaypointsX guarantee it will never shut down the way Umapped did?
- No vendor can honestly guarantee that, including WaypointsX, which is new and unproven. What we can guarantee contractually is your ability to export your data on demand, on every plan, so a shutdown wouldn't cost you the data itself.
