Tern is an established platform built for solo advisors up to large host agencies, with its own AI suite (AI Assist, AI Notetaker, AI itinerary drafting) already shipped and commission reconciliation once an agency reaches three seats. WaypointsX is a newer, single-record alternative: it treats the trip itself, brief, itinerary, bookings, documents, payments and commissions, as one object, and turns a forwarded confirmation directly into a booking with deadlines and expected commission attached. Advisors who want a mature product with a longer track record should look closely at Tern; advisors who want confirmation import and unlimited native e-signing without a seat threshold should look at WaypointsX.

One trip record, not a set of forms
Tern's public pages describe an itinerary builder with a client view. WaypointsX starts from the trip itself: the brief, itinerary versions, bookings, documents, payments, commissions and timeline all live on one record, so a change on one side (a new confirmation, a signed document) shows up everywhere else without re-entry.
Confirmations become bookings automatically
Tern's confirmation-import capability isn't documented publicly, so we can't say how, or even whether, it works. WaypointsX extracts fields from a forwarded confirmation with confidence scores and source quotes, the advisor reviews and accepts them, and the booking, itinerary items, deadlines and expected commission are created from that single review.
Two different answers to card authorisation
Tern's published approach lets the advisor view the full card number and CVV for 30 days after authorisation, in a 5-minute session. WaypointsX captures the authorisation as a signed document; without a connected card vault, capture goes through Stripe tokens that can never be revealed to anyone, including WaypointsX, and once a vault is connected, every reveal is logged for the advisor to see.
Commission tracking without a seat minimum
Tern's reconciliation and supplier-payment tracking only unlock at 3 or more seats. WaypointsX tracks expected commission and expected date on every booking, and reconciles statements from CSV or PDF, on the single-seat Advisor plan as much as on Agency.
Where Tern is the better fit
If you want a platform that's been in the market longer, with public reviews and an AI suite already shipped across itinerary drafting and note-taking, Tern is worth strong consideration, especially once your team will comfortably clear the 3-seat commission-tracking threshold. WaypointsX is new: it has no public reviews and no published customer count yet, and this page won't pretend otherwise.
Switching from Tern

- No. WaypointsX is new and has no public reviews or published customer count yet. Tern has been in the market longer. If review history matters most to your decision, weigh that honestly before choosing.
- Can WaypointsX view a client's card number the way Tern can?
- Only if you connect a card vault, and only with every reveal logged. By default, card capture goes through Stripe tokens that can't be revealed to anyone, including WaypointsX, a different trade-off than Tern's 30-day advisor-visible window, not a like-for-like match.
- Does WaypointsX require a minimum number of seats for commission tracking?
- No. Commission tracking, including expected dates and statement reconciliation, is included on every WaypointsX plan, including the single-seat Advisor plan.
- Can I import my confirmations the way I would with Tern?
- Tern's confirmation import isn't documented publicly, so we can't compare it directly. WaypointsX's is: forward a confirmation, review the extracted fields and source quotes, and accept to create the booking, itinerary items, deadlines and expected commission.
